Le telephone avait sonne a 3h du matin....sa soeur nous avait annonce la mauvaise nouvelle... Mamie Ormskirk etait partie retrouve son "Daddy Darling"... je me souviens encore du choc de la nouvelle... NathaN s'etait reveille, on etait descendu tout les 3 au salon, on a bu une tasse de the a la lueur de quelques bougies, avec notre petit bebe de 5 semaines, qui n'aura jamais rencontre cette Mamie... elle avait pourtant ete patiente, tant on a pris notre temps avant de lui offrir la joie d'etre grand-mere pour la premiere fois... Elle est partie rassuree, elle avait vu sa photo, elle savait qu'il allait bien et d'ou elle est elle veille sur lui.

The phone rang at 3am... his sister gave us the bad news... Grandma Ormskirk was gone, left us to meet up with her "Daddy Darling"... I can remember the shock of the news... NathaN had awaken, we gone downstairs the 3 of us, we'd had a cup of tea, in a candle lit lounge, with our little 5-week old baby, who will never have met his Gran... She had been so patient though, we'd taken so long before giving her the joy of being grandmother for the first time... She left reassured, she'd seen his photo, she knew that he was fine, and from where she is, she keeps on eye on him.

Un bel apres-midi passe en famille, avec TataVic, pour un repas un peu particulier...a la memoire des grands-parents de NathaN. Alors on a mange des plats qu'ils auraient adores, et on a debouche cette bouteille de vin que Mon PapA nous avait offerte a la naissance de NathaN. Un apres-midi tout en douceur, dans la bonne humeur et le doux souvenir, un apres-midi que meme NathaN ne voulait pas louper: alors il n'a pas fait de sieste!

A lovely afternoon spent with our family, with TataVic, for a very special meal... in memory of NathaN's grandparents. So we ate dishes they would have loved, and we opened this delicious bottle of red wine that My PapA gave us when NathaN was born. A very gentle afternoon, full of happy memories, an afternoon that even NathaN didn't want to miss: so he didn't have a nap!

Pas la peine d'introduction...vous connaissez la musique:

A 13 mois, voici ce que fait mon petit bonhomme:

• Il marche fierement en titubant (c'est a se demander ce qu'il y a dans son biberon!)
• Il se prend a courir (vu pour la premiere fois hier soir...)
• Il a sa premiere paire de VRAIES chaussures (a la bonne taille: 19,5!)
• Il a passe un apres-midi dans une ferme et il a adore la rencontre avec les animaux (surtout les cochons d'Inde!)
• Il n'est pas alle a la creche pendant 48h pour cause de maladie (qu'il a gentillement partagee!)

Without further ado... you know the drill:

At the age of 13 months, here is what my little man is capable of:

• He can walk proudly, well, he can stagger (I wonder whether he's already seen his dad coming back from the pub!)
• He getting into running (saw him for the first time last night...)
• He has a pair of proper walking shoes (at the correct size: 3.5)
• He spent an afternoon in a farm, and he loved meeting all the animals (especially the guinea pigs)
• He wasn't allowed at nursery for 48h because he was ill (and then procededed to sharing it with us!)

Coucou a toutes et a tous,

Voici près de 2 semaines que je n’ai pas eu pris le temps de blogger… Petit NathaN s’est bien rétabli de son petit virus, mais évidemment, ça ne pouvait pas s’arrêter là : il a P-A-R-T-A-G-É !

Alors, à mon tour, j’ai eu un petit virus pendant 24h, MamieCo a fait de même, et le grand vainqueur…l’Homme, est resté couché pendant 4 jours !!!

Alors entre les couches, les repas, le ménage, le boulot, les sorties, les rendez-vous chez le doc… je n’ai pas eu beaucoup de temps pour moi (et vous).

Pour récapituler ce qu’on a fait dernièrement : NathaN a été gâté par sa grand-mère : une table et 2 chaises, ses premières chaussures de marche, un nouveau doudou tout doux, de jolis vêtements, et plein de gros câlins pendant tout son séjour. Et puis nous avons reçu un joli coli de la part de TataVine…avec le plus joli des manteaux (voir la première photo). C’est elle qui l’a fait et il est sublime !

Nous avons aussi fait une sortie « enfant » la semaine dernière, on est allés à Farmer Teds, un centre d’activités autour du thème de la ferme (vous l’aviez deviné ?). NathaN a adoré vadrouiller sur un petit tracteur, caresser les cochons d’Inde, regarder le cheval, faire de la balançoire…et j’en oublie !

Tout ça pour dire que ça va mieux chez les Grenouilles in England.

It’s nearly been 2 weeks since I last blogged… Little NathaN has recovered from his virus, but obviously, it couldn’t just stop there : he S-H-A-R-E-D!

So, it was my turn to have  a bit of a 24 hour bug, MamieCo got the same, but the winner was the Man of the house: 4 days in bed!!!

So, between nappies, meals, cleaning, work, outings, and doctor appointments…I haven’t had much time to myself (nor for you).

To recap what we’ve done lately: NathaN was spoiled by his MamieCo: a little table and 2 chairs, his first walking shoes, a new “doudou” (softy comforter), some pretty clothes, and tons of cuddles during her stay. And we received a little parcel from TataVine…with the most gorgeous coat (see the first picture!). She made it herself and it is sublime!

We also did a « kiddies’ » outing last week, we went to Farmer Teds, an activity centre, on the theme of the farm (as you would have guessed…) NathaN loved jetting around on a mini tractor, caressing the guinea pigs, staring at the horse, going on the swing…and I’m forgetting plenty!

Petite precision: ce n'est pas la varicelle semble-t-il, mais il est toujours patrack! Heureusement MamieCo est la et elle s'occupe bien de son petit English prefere!

Quick update: it doesn't seem to be chicken pox, but he's still no better! Lucky for him, MamieCo is here, and she's looking after her favourite British boy!

Il fallait bien que ca arrive un jour: NathaN est malade, et la creche nous impose 48h a la maison...Alors, c'est TataVic qui s'y colle demain (Thank You!!!) et puis, je prendrai ma matinee mercredi (ca tombe bien, je ne bosse pas le mercredi aprem'). Mais la question subsidiaire demeure: mais qu'a-t-il ce petit NathaN??? Varicelle ou pas Varicelle, telle est la question (a nouveau!)... On verra bien demain matin au reveil...

It had to happen one day: NathaN is ill, and his nursery has sent him home for 48h... So it's TataVic who is doing the first shift (Merci!!!) and I'll take my Wednesday morning (just as well, I don't work on Wed afternoon). But the question remains: what's wrong with the little NathaN??? Chicken Pox or not, that is the question (again!)... We'll see tomorrow morning when he wakes up...

Garder longtemps cette sensation de douceur apportee par une journee passee a faire des petites choses, pas grand chose, mais tout de meme, des petites choses qui au final me font dire que aujourd'hui a ete une bonne journee. Et puis ce week-end aussi a ete bon. On a entendu les feux d'artifice du 5 novembre (et puis aussi le 6 et le 7), on a taille la haie devant la maison, on a reecoute l'album de nos vacances d'ete (Alicia Keys - The element of freedom), on a fait un peu de sport (mais pas trop...), on a bien manger (mais pas trop...), on a bien bu (mais...). Enfin bref, que du bon! - ou presque. Victoria m'avait gentillement rapporte du chocolat a boire de San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexique, et je me suis enfin decidee a m'en faire une tasse. Et bien, c'est peut-etre parce que tout a meilleur gout quand on est sur place, mais je n'ai pas reussi/aime le melange... Nevermind!

Let's keep this sweet sensation a little longer, sensation brought by a day spent doing lots of little things, not much, but still, little things which add up and make me say that today was a good day. And the rest of the weekend was good too. We listened to the fireworks on the 5th, the 6th and the 7th Nov, we sorted the front hedge, we listened to this "summer holiday" album (Alicia Keys - the element of freedom), we did a bit of sport (but not too much...), we ate well (but not too much...), we drank well (but...). Well, all was good - or nearly. Victoria kindly brought us back some drinking chocolate from San Cristobal de las Casas, Mexico, and I finally managed to make a cup. Well, it might be because everything always tastes better when you're there, but I didn't like the mixture...Dommage!

Ce matin, j'ai depose NathaN a la creche, j'ai donne mes cours, j'ai fait un peu de preparation pour l'echange scolaire, je suis allee rechercher NathaN, j'ai couche le petit bonhomme pour sa sieste, et maintenant.....ah! quel plaisir, une tasse de the en lisant mes blogs preferes! Quelle journee! - et ce n'est pas fini: je dois retourner au lycee pour la soiree parents-profs.

This morning, I took NathaN to nursery, I went to teach a few lessons, I did a bit of preparation for the French exchange, I went to pick up NathaN, I put him to bed for his nap, and now...ah! what a pleasure, a cup of tea whilst reading my favourite blogs! What a day! - and it's not over: I must go back to school for the L6th parents' evening.

Ca fait 2 jours qu'on a repris les cours ici (et oui, pas de jour ferie pour le 1er nov), et ca fait 2 soirees que je passe a corriger, et corriger, et encore corriger...et j'ai pas fini!!! Sacre devoirs de vacances...mais pourquoi les momes font les devoirs qu'on leur donne??? Vivement demain: je passe l'apres-midi avec mon petit bonhomme :)

We've been back at school 2 days now (no bank holiday for the 1st of Nov here!), and I've spent both evening marking, marking and marking some more...and it's not over!!! Those holiday homework...Can you tell me why do children actually do the work we've set them??? Can't wait for tomorrow: I'm spending the afternoon with my little boy :)
